The Pin Mill Studio is a beautiful space on the banks of the River Orwell. This is the studio of the award-winning photographer, Anthony Cullen.  We also run courses in photography painting and drawing, and sailing theory. There's a lovely gallery cafe overlooking the river, open weekends 12-5pm, serving artisan coffee, teas, hot chocolate, ice creams, home-made cakes, gorgeous gifts and prints, local pottery and ceramics. The Studio space is available for hire. Get in touch to find out more.

Anthony's corporate clients include many international and local brands, including Adnams and Rolls Royce, as well as commissions for national media. From innovations in farming for The Guardian to incredible stunts for Jaguar, from portraits of Hollywood superstars to website images for local charities, Anthony relishes a challenge.  He works regularly both with design companies and directly with clients on portraits, food, drink and location photography, website imagery and action promotional events.

I would like to say just how much I enjoyed my session with you at your Pin Mill studios last week. I found your relaxed yet hugely competent and informative approach to the complicated subject of cameras, composition and photography in general created an ideal atmosphere for learning

Just wanted to say thank you very much for such an enjoyable and constructive day last Friday. I was not quite sure what my daughters had signed me up for but the day exceeded all my expectations!
I really appreciated your patience and kindness, having always been shy to ask questions which I thought would sound silly. I feel I have got to know my camera better. You have given me confidence to be more adventurous and inspired me with your amazing work. I will highly recommend you.

I just wanted to thank you for a fascinating course last Sunday. It was so helpful to be able to speak to an expert and I'll be able to put what I learned to good use. The personal touch is something that no book can ever give and that is the true value of courses such as yours.

In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Pin Mil is a beautiful riverside hamlet nestling on the banks of the Orwell, about 20 minutes drive from Ipswich or half an hour from Colchester

An unchanged landscape

Walk, sail, wander, paint, take photos, paddle in the stream or picnic. This beauty spot has been a bustling little harbour for centuries and has changed very little

The Butt & Oyster and riverside walks

The famous Butt is right next door to us, with its wide selection of real ales, fine wines and fresh seafood. The Arthur Ransome Walking Trail is a lovely riverside walk from our doorstep following the route of the children's classic We Didn't Mean to Go To Sea
